ESTATE TEA SOURCING:

TULIP’s dedicated team of tasters travel extensively all around the tea producing region to source the finest teas for our blends. By keeping in regular contact with the best estates we always ensure that we have the choicest pick of the crop.

AUCTION BUYING:

TULIP’s Tea tasters regularly operate in all the major tea auction centers in India, around the year, enabling them to pick up the right quality tea at the most competitive rates. Tulip maintains a  large inventory of various blends to suit every market. Once the importer / client approve the blend, the sample is frozen as a standard and supplies are made strictly in accordance with the set standard.

TEA TASTING:

Every lot of Tea sourced passes through a set of Tea  Tasting procedure. The Tea from the gardens are tasted for various characters like flavor, strength of cup, infusing of boiled leafs and the appearance and make of the made tea leaf.

BLENDING:

The right blend of tea is that final packet which is acceptable to the clients /consumers. In TULIP, the blend is prepared after mixing different teas of various origins and estates having distinctive features in liquor, size, aroma, infusing, colour etc, which are blended in the right proportion as per standards set by the master blenders / tea tasters to make a real true value for the customers.

CLEANING:

Tea that comes from the plantation contains excess fiber, Foreign Material, Iron Filling (In CTC teas), nails, small stones, wooden chips etc. Therefore , TULIP is very particular to take out these impurities from the tea. This process is done through a Magnetic Separator, Fiber Extractor, Color Sorter, etc.

QUALITY ASSURANCE:

Every consignment of TULIP Tea is passed through stringent Quality norms. We apply TQM techniques at our production lines. This close contact with our suppliers enabled us to launch our Quality Assurance Program. TULIP Tea sends its technical staffs to look at every aspect of life on the tea estate. We monitor the field and Factory quality standards, health and safety issues, hygiene and food safety, product quality and much more. The Shelf life of TULIP Tea is considered as higher than average industry standards due to its quality care policy.

WAREHOUSING:

Tulip Nilgiris Exports Pvt. Ltd. has a world class and ultra hi-tech warehousing and blending facility. Storing, Packaging and Blending activities are all carried out here until De-Humidified conditions of 30-50% relative humidity.

PACKING:

The traditional Plywood / Wooden Tea Chests are steadily being replaced by alternate modes of packaging such as  Multi-layered Aluminum Lined Paper Sacks, Polypropylene / HM-HDPE woven sacks, Poly-lined Gunny / Jute bags and Corrugated Fiber Box with Poly Jacket inside. Net weight per unit to be packed is determined by the volumetric density of a grade.

CONTAINERISATION:

After proper packing, Teas are stuffed in containers either in Palletized form (to facilitate handling by Forklift) or in loose form. While stuffing containers, special care is taken to insure that no empty space is left to avoid damage during transit. Care is also taken against leakages and insured that the tea is free from any odor of taint.

PRE-SHIPMENT INSPECTION:

The stuffing of containers before shipping is done under the vigilant eyes of the Company’s representatives  and the Customs Inspectors, thus ensuring total safety of the cargo. Third party Inspecting like SGS, etc. is conducted as per customer’s requirement.

SHIPMENT:

We ship globally by both sea and air. We will always look at each customer and each order on an individual basis and co-relate several shipping quotes in order to get you the best price. Common mode of export is by sea. Majority of shipment are in containerized form. Majority of shipments are palletized before stuffing into containers. Expensive teas are occasionally air freighted.
